Dear Parents/ Carers,
Following the Government’s latest announcement, I am writing to you for the 5th time to update you as to the schools current planning around schooling next week.
The Government has made recommendations that schools should endeavour to educate young people who have social workers or are on child protection plans, have an EHCP or parents of key workers. As you can appreciate for Bramfield House this means that we are trying very hard to continue to educate every boy that attends with us.
You may be aware that the school has a number of staff who are currently self-isolating and for whom being in contact with other poses significant risks. As a result of this, this school is functioning on a reduced teacher and support team capacity. This is likely to get worse as the pandemic widens. It is therefore very unlikely that the school will be able to safely educate all young people in the coming weeks. On that basis we are looking at each young person circumstances individually to plan for the most realistic best case scenario for each boys education.
Unfortunately this will mean that some boys may be able to be retained at school whilst others may be offered online learning and supported study at home. Comprehensive plans are already in place to support parents who may be faced with their son at home and learning for an extended period of time, however in the coming days each parent will be contacted to discuss what the school is able to provide and what you need from us to help manage a very difficult situation.
In light of this planning, could I ask that if you are a keyworker and therefore need to maintain your son in education to support the NHS or Police service that you contact the school and speak to Angela Pointer (Family Liaison Officer).
All Parents/ Carers will be contacted by the school by the end of the week to confirm arrangements individually.
